New Hope Pantry in Olathe is asking the community for help after a record-breaking Monday brought 91 families through its doors — nearly twice the 50 families it typically plans to serve in a day.
The pantry says its supply of dry goods was already running low and is now seriously depleted. The biggest needs right now are pasta, canned proteins such as beans and meat, rice, canned fruit, dry beans or lentils, cereal and oatmeal. Bread and refrigerated items are generally well stocked, so shelf-stable foods are the priority.
With school starting and demand increasing, even a few extra items can make a difference.
