Johnson County residents have until Tuesday, Oct. 13, to register or update their voter registration ahead of the Nov. 3 general election. Advance voting begins Saturday.
OLATHE, Kan. — With Election Day just three weeks away, Kansas residents have reached an important deadline: Tuesday, Oct. 13, is the final day to register to vote in the Nov. 3 general election.
For Olathe and Johnson County residents, the deadline applies to first-time voters, residents who have recently moved to Kansas and registered voters who need to update their information following an address or name change.
Kansas voters will head to the polls Tuesday, Nov. 3, to decide a variety of federal, state and local races. The specific contests appearing on a voter’s ballot depend on where they live.
Residents who are already properly registered at their current address do not need to register again.
HOW TO REGISTER OR CHECK YOUR STATUS
Kansas offers online voter registration through the Kansas Department of Revenue.
Residents can register or update their information at:

Online registration generally requires a valid Kansas driver’s license or nondriver identification card. Residents who cannot use the online system may complete a paper voter registration application.
Voters can also check their registration status, party affiliation and polling place through the Kansas Secretary of State’s VoterView system:

The Johnson County Election Office, located at 2101 E. Kansas City Road in Olathe, oversees local election administration.
Residents should not assume their registration information is current, particularly if they have moved since the last election.
ADVANCE VOTING BEGINS SATURDAY
Johnson County residents who prefer not to wait until Election Day will have opportunities to vote early.
Advance in-person voting begins Saturday, Oct. 17, with voting available at designated locations throughout Johnson County.
The Johnson County Election Office has scheduled voting from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on opening Saturday.
Additional advance voting dates, hours and locations vary, so voters should consult the Election Office before visiting a location.
Kansas also allows eligible registered voters to request advance ballots by mail. The deadline to request a mailed advance ballot for the Nov. 3 election is Oct. 27.
WHAT VOTERS SHOULD KNOW BEFORE HEADING TO THE POLLS
Kansas requires voters to present an acceptable form of photographic identification when voting in person, subject to certain exemptions.
A Kansas driver’s license is one commonly accepted form, but other qualifying photo identification may also be used.
Voters who are unsure about identification requirements, advance voting procedures or their assigned polling place can find information through the Kansas Secretary of State and Johnson County Election Office.
