KANSAS CITY, Kan. — Two undefeated professional boxing brothers from Olathe gave their hometown supporters plenty to celebrate Saturday night, Oct. 10, as Jorge and Izak Carlos each scored knockout victories during the Heart of America Pro + Am Boxing Invitational at Memorial Hall in Kansas City, Kansas.

The brothers entered the event with a combined professional record of 22-0 and 18 knockouts. Facing experienced opponents from Paraguay and Colombia, both ended their fights well before the scheduled final bell, continuing their unbeaten careers and taking another step toward their shared goal of competing for world championships.

Jorge Carlos, 26, faced Carlos Manuel Portillo of Paraguay in a scheduled 10-round super lightweight bout. Portillo entered the fight with 23 professional victories, including 17 knockouts, and considerably more professional experience than the Olathe fighter. Jorge took control early and stopped Portillo in the second round, improving his record to 14-0 with 12 knockouts.

His younger brother, Izak Carlos, 24, was even quicker. Competing in the super featherweight division, Izak knocked out Colombia’s Deivi Julio in the first round of their scheduled eight-round contest. Julio entered the matchup with 47 professional fights and 29 victories, including 18 knockouts. The result kept Izak undefeated and completed a successful night for the Carlos family.

Although they compete in different weight classes, the brothers have spent years training together, pushing one another and working toward the same ambition of becoming world champions. Both have credited their family for the sacrifices that helped them pursue professional boxing careers.

Before Saturday’s event, Jorge spoke about the significance of fighting close to home with his brother on the same card.

“It’s a great feeling to be fighting back home, especially with my brother on the same card,” Jorge said in a pre-fight interview published by FightNews. He also emphasized the importance of continuing to improve as he faces increasingly experienced competition.

Izak, who was born in Kansas City, Kansas, and now lives in Olathe, expressed similar appreciation for the opportunity. He said the brothers have spent countless hours together in the gym and that fighting on the same card near home was particularly meaningful because their family and longtime supporters could attend.

Izak also brings a notable amateur boxing background to his professional career. Representing Kansas City Golden Gloves, he reached the championship bout of the 132-pound division at the 2023 National Golden Gloves Tournament of Champions, finishing as the national runner-up.

Saturday’s event featured professional and amateur boxers from across the country, with the professional fights streamed internationally on CombatVisionTV. The main event featured Nico Ali Walsh, grandson of legendary heavyweight champion Muhammad Ali, against undefeated Treavon Craycraft. Craycraft won by unanimous decision after eight rounds.

While the nationally recognized Ali name attracted attention to the event, the Carlos brothers provided one of the night’s strongest local storylines. Both faced international opponents with substantial professional experience, and both delivered knockout victories before their hometown supporters.

For Jorge and Izak, the results add to promising professional careers built on years of training, family support and a shared commitment to boxing. With both fighters still undefeated, the Olathe brothers continue working toward bigger opportunities and, ultimately, a chance to compete for championship titles.
