Olathe pet owners have an opportunity today to get vaccinations and microchips for their dogs and cats at considerably reduced prices.
Olathe Animal Care & Control is holding a Low-Cost Vaccine Clinic today, Saturday, Aug. 29, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the lower lot at the Olathe Downtown Library, 260 E. Santa Fe St.
Registration is required.
The City currently lists a one-year rabies vaccination for $10, a three-year rabies vaccination for $30, and distemper or Bordetella vaccinations for $15 each. Microchipping is $25.
Microchips can be especially valuable when a pet gets loose or is separated from its family. Olathe Animal Care & Control also allows owners to add their pet’s microchip information to the City’s database at no charge, helping Animal Control reunite lost pets with their owners more quickly.
Today’s special clinic is part of the City’s ongoing low-cost vaccination program. Olathe normally offers vaccine appointments on Tuesdays and Thursdays as well, although appointments are required and walk-ins are not accepted for those regular clinics.
