WATCH: A piece of Olathe history came crashing down in September when Fire Station No. 4, built in 1971, was demolished near 133rd Street and Mur-Len Road.

On Monday, October 26, Olathe city leaders, firefighters and construction partners gathered for the official groundbreaking of its $16.5 million replacement.

The new station at 13301 S. Mur-Len Road is designed to better accommodate modern firefighting operations and maintain emergency response coverage.

Firefighters assigned to Station 4 have been temporarily relocated to other stations during construction.

Our video includes original Olathe Today footage of the old station’s demolition, along with highlights from Monday’s groundbreaking ceremony.
